10 抽象名词被后置限制性修饰语修饰时前前一定要加the吗
老师好。张道真英语语法大全P774有一类句子：
He is doubtful (as to) what we could do.
张道真的意思可以用He is in doubt (as to) what we could do代替。这引出2个问题：
(1) He is doubtful (as to) what we could do.
这个句子句法清楚，按照现代语法进行成分划分,一般就把(as to) what we could do看成形容词补足语好了。
(2) 重点是后面这个句子结构上如何划分呢？
●He is in doubt what we could do 是否可以将what we could do看成doubt同位语？如果是是限制性同位语么？如果是限制性同位语也会出现如下的问题。
类似还有: I had doubt whether he would win. 这句话是否正确，doubt前面是否缺少了一个the。
●He is in doubt as to what we could do.是将as to what we could do看成状语修饰谓语Be in doubt合适? 还是把as to what we could do看成doubt的后置定语？如若看成后置定语,这个就和章振邦讲述抽象名词被后置限制性定语修饰,那么前面就是特指，应该需要加the这个概念冲突.(章振邦在讲述零冠词类指用法时讲过)
请老师帮理清一下，这个哪里出现问题了？还是说一种特例？

1. He is doubtful (as to) what we could do.
as to 的意思，如果你翻看LONGMAN词典，会有两种解释，我说的是原版Longman, 和国内版本有一定区别。
其中，这里的as to = about , 如此看来，我想你应该就明白了，doubtful as to =doubtful about
2. He is in doubt what we could do. 和 I had doubt whether he would win. 这里面what we could do 和 whether he would win 都作为 doubt 同位语。 in doubt 是一个习惯用法，doubt本身也可以是不可数名词。
但是，在肯定句中，doubt 后面可以接that或whether 引导的从句；而doubt在否定句中，不能接whether.
比如，there's no doubt that he 's the best in our class. 而不能说 there's no doubt whether
3. He is in doubt as to what we could do. 这里as to what we could do 是作为doubt的后置定语。还是那句话，in doubt 是习惯搭配短语。

很简单，in boubt为习语，固定用法，不会说in the doubt. 你尽管把as to介词短语理解为定语或把what从句理解为同位语，反正in boubt这个习语是不会改变的。你考虑的太多了。

He is in doubt as to what we could do. as to=about, 我看看作状语比较合适些。看作后置定语不太合乎语言逻辑。你写的这个句子 had doubt whether he would win. 有错误。要么have a doubt, 要么doubts. 不用the.
