介词 in 可以表示“方面”，由它构成的介词短语常用来作定语。被修饰的名词往往是打破原来状态，多有“变化”之意。诸如：“改变、差异、上升、下降、增加、减少”等。又如：

There was an astounding 20% increase in sales.

销售量惊人地增加了20%。

There has been a decrease in traffic accidents.

The rise in oil costs reacted on the price of food.

赞同刘老师的解答，in表示范围，指生物量内的变化。所以这种用法最常见，但也有用of 的，如 to evaluate the change of biomass in global vegetation models. of 常指biomass的整体的变化，因此用的比较少。也可以用 biomass change. 例如：Logging and other biomass changes can be accurately mapped.
