为什么不定代词后面可以加名词，the matter？

《韦氏高阶》：

the matter — used to ask if there is a problem or to say that there is or is not a problem

What's the matter? [=what's the problem?; what's wrong?]
“Is anything the matter?” [=is anything wrong?; is there a problem?] “No, nothing's the matter.”

— often + with

Nothing's the matter with me. I'm fine.
There's something the matter with the car. [=there's something wrong with the car; there's a problem with the car]

你可以看出，the matter with sb/sth 被用作wrong with sb/sth. 即当作形容词短语使用，所以可以在there存在句中作something的定语。

这是个英语惯用，the matter = wrong. the matter 相当于汉语的“有问题了”。
