1，There be句型里为什么出现了2个动词（be、desperate）？这是不是一个定语从句，desperate to adopt a child修饰people？

2，表达同样的意思，不用there be，而直接写出Hundreds of people desperate to adopt a child.是否可以？

完整的句子是：There are hundreds of people who/that desperate to adopt a child.这是一个There be句式，主语是hundreds of people，desperate to adopt a child是定语从句，关系代词that/who被省略了。张道真《实用英语语法》（P.569）上有具体说明：

注：在下面句型中，that和who虽然在从句中作主语，在口语中间或也可能省略掉：

There's a man (that) lives in that village.有一个人住在那个村子里。

There is something (that) keeps worrying me.有一件事老使我不安。
