there be....doing 和 there be....done 的区分

老师您好。我不明白there be句型当中什么时候接doing 或done ，这里“The doctor told him that there was only two years remaining. ”为何不是remained？为什么又有There are two day left for the final examination.

这个和there be 没关系。remain 通常用主动形式，即remaining 分词，不用表示被动的过去分词，当然remaining 也可以看作从现在分词变化而来的形容词。left 修饰two days 需要用过去分词，表示被动。这是remain 和leave 这两个词的用法决定的。
