表示“就…看来”“在…眼中或心目中”时，原来用 in the eye of 和 in the eyes of 都可以，但在现代英语中，似乎通常要用复数形式的eyes。如：

Everyone wants to be successful in the eyes of their peers. 每个人都希望在同辈人的眼中自己是成功的。

Success in the eyes of others is an overrated achievement. 在他人眼中，成功常常被夸大为了不起的成就。

不过像下面这类习语或惯用表达则通常用单数。如：

in the eye of the storm 处在风暴中心（风头浪尖）

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. 情人眼里出西施。

(eye 复数），是in the opinion of ...的意思，一般后面接人，偶尔也有不跟人使用的现象。例： 1. In the eyes of his fans Elvis could do no wrong. 2. In the eyes of the law he was a fugitive.
