1. 黑体部分with deep wrinkles in the back of his neck 是“with 复合结构”，作伴随状语，修饰整个谓语部分（系表结构 was thin and gaunt ），因与主语有距离，不可能瞒山过海去修饰主语，不存在主补，也与形容词无关，不是形容词的补足语。
2. 黑体部分the sun brings from its reflection on the tropic sea 为定语从句。先行词是The brown blotches。
bring 意为“带来；引起”，from 表示“来自；原因”。第2句的主干其实是一个“主系表”：
The brown blotches were on his cheeks.
