history, historic, historical 用法（history book 与 historical novel）

老师好！

关于history、historic和historical问两个问题：

1. 历史书是history book，这很好理解，因为只是内容与历史有关，跟这本书是否在历史上存在无关。这就像cat face是猫脸状的图案，而非真的猫脸（cat’s face）。

但照这样理解，历史小说（historical novel）为什么不可以是history novel呢？

2. historical novel，是否跟历史上是否存在无关，既可以是现代人写的《大秦帝国》也可以是古代的《水浒传》？

historical 有一个用法是表示“基于历史的”（=based on history）。historical novel 就是这个用法，它相当于a novel that tells a story about events and people in the past。
