关于介词of的使用问题

"The development of the Elizabethan drama for the next twenty-five years is of exceptional interest to students of literary history, for in this brief period we may trace the beginning, growth, blossoming, and decay of many kinds of plays, and of may great careers. "

这句中好多个of都是怎么用的呢？特别是第一个不太理解，be动词之后直接加的一个of。

你的问题中提出的 be + of+抽象名词，是英语中常见的一种表达方式，意思基本等同于它的形容词形式，主要用于书面表达。例如：I hope that my answer will be of some use to you.=useful. The film I saw last night might be of interest to you.=interesting。还有什么be of importance, be of value等等。注意of 后的名词，一般都应该是不可数的单数形式。问题句其他的of, 仅仅做定语的基本用法，这里就不解释了。另外，最后一个of 后的may 应该是many.
