In this surgery today, you're gonna have to create a plane as thin as paper between two delicate layers of tissue without disrupting the major blood flow to the brain.

请教老师，这里的as...as...是什么用法，这里前面是省略了which is吗？如果不是，那么这种用法的as从句是supplement吗？

supplement补充语，都是非限制性的，起补充说明作用。而这里as thin as paper 为plane的限制性修饰语（定语），等于限制性定语从句 that is as thin as paper is。有些比较结构已经成为固定用法，形成as+形容词+as +名词，用如一个形容词在句子中作表语或后置定语。例如，as white as snow, as good as gold 等。其实这都是比较结构的简略形式。

as thin as paper是plane的后置修饰语。你理解成"as前面省略了which is"也是对的。
