It was in the evening that I first met him.
但这个句子,好像只能看作主语从句 it is very important that you need to study hard.

It was in the evening that I first met him.
It was yesterday that (when) he bought an English book in town.
It was last week that (when) we worked in the countryside.
It is at ten o’clock that the meeting will take place.(不能用when)
It was after two o'clock in the morning (主句)when the surgeon arrived at the hospital.(从句。it 指时间)
It was in the evening that I first met him.
It is very important that you need to study hard.(主语从句)
