——这是用 such ... as....列举事项。such 后面的 issues 是“总”，as 后面的 the structure 是“分”。它们是“总和分”的关系。也就是说，as 是对前面 issues 的部分列举。这不是比较结构，不存在比较项。

2. The conflict of interests and ideas between parent and child creats a situation far more common than was believed to be so. 

——than 指代前面整个主句内容，同时做了从句的主语。前面的句子我用 the whole thing 表示，than 等于 the whole thing，我演绎一下：

People believed the whole thing to be so. 变成被动句后则是：

The whole thing was believed to be so. 

由于前面主句中含有比较项more common，才有了 than 引导的比较从句。比较项不能在从句中出现，因为就含在than 当中，不但如此，than指代整个句子内容，自然包含着比较项，而且 than 做了 was believed 的主语（主动语态的宾语）。
