表示写信叙说某事时，write后可接不定式，也可接现在分词。一般说来，write后接不定式，通常表目的；write后接现在分词，通常表伴随。但有趣的是，在翻译成汉语时，两者意思往往差不多（尽管不定式和现在分词的功能不一样）。如：

He wrote to thank (thanking) us for the present. 他写信表示感谢我们赠送礼物。

This girl wrote saying (to say) that she was coming to see me from Paris. 这个姑娘给我写信说要从巴黎来看我。
