虽然词典和语法书都没有提及support 可以后接动名词作宾语。但你现在在原版读物中看到了这个例句，把这个句子记下来，作为support用法的一个参考。不要轻易质疑原版读物中动词的用法。

这里还有一个WR网站的一个句子也用到了support doing sth.

If I use a colon to introduce an explanation or elaboration of what I've just said, I don't use the conjunction 'and'. I call that 'wrong' too and I'd advise not doing it, even if some style guides support doing that.
