I am wiser than to believe that.

请教老师：

than后为什么动词形式是to believe that ? 为什么是不定式？可以是than believing that吗？

或than believe that ? 就是说句子中than后的to是怎么回事？难道是than I am to believe that吗？

如果是这样，am to 这里又表示什么意思呢？

I would be stupid to believe that.

这个句子中不定式暗示虚拟条件。, I would be stupid if I were to believe that.

I am wiser than (I would be if I were) to believe that.

注意不定式是比较分句的条件状语，比较对应项为表语，必须省略或理解由than充当。所以这不是be to do结构。

我明智的程度大于相信那件事的程度。我不至于相信那件事，我没有笨到相信那件事的程度。I am wise enough not to believe that. If I were not wise I would believe that.
