关于more than ....can结构中的more的词性问题

老师好，请大多数词典中More基本上被看成限定词,副词,代词的词性，很少有看到形容词性的描述。我的问题有两个：

1）：More到底能能不能作形容词？如果有请帮举例一下。

2）：请问如下三句话中的more词性到底是代词还是形容词?因为如果按照than看成关系代词看 more好像应该看成代词,但如果将than看成连词,more到底是什么词性呢？多谢各位帮给予解惑，谢谢。

That’s more than I can tell(简直不懂);

The beauty of the place is more than I can describe(非我所能形容);

His insolence is more than I can stand(受不了);

你的三个句子其实是同一种结构。be more than sb can +及物动词或不及物动词+介词，这种结构中，more为代词，根据than从句谓语动词的意义，more隐含了一个形容词+ a thing.例如：

That’s more than I can tell.

= That's more complicated a thing than I can tell.

The beauty of the place is more than I can describe.

= The beauty of the place is more delicate a thing than I can describe.

His insolence is more than I can stand.

= His insolence is more unpleasant a thing than I can stand.

划线部分为主句的比较项，其在从句的对应项由than替代，在从句中作宾语（than分析为比较代词）。或理解主句比较项的对应项在从句必须省略，所以从句及物动词的宾语空缺，形成空位gap (按照than为连词分析）。无论哪种解释，都可以看出more在此不可能是形容词，否则无法解释从句及物动词宾语的缺失。
