characterize和report的用法疑问

一，The central government will support Beijing in setting up a pilot free trade zone characterizing scientific and technological innovation, opening-up of the services sector and digital economy.

查过字典，A characterize B表示“A是B的特征”，所以这里的characterizing是不是应该换成featuring或者characterized by.

二，All three regions had seen an increase in the reporting of face coverings being worn over the past two months.

查过字典，动词report后面不能接现在分词作补语，该句中的report the face coverings being worn是否用法有误？以上均出自中国日报app原文。

1 是的，characterizing应改为characterized by. 因为后面的三个名词短语是free trade zoon的特点。

2 report作为动词可以后接that从句作宾语，即that face coverings were worn.

当reporting用作名词化的动名词，其宾语由介词of引出。介词不可后接that从句，故that从句改为动名词复合结构，of face coverings being worn. 这里being worn并不是现在分词，而是动名词！！！

一、A characterize B： A是B的特征 = A 描绘了B的特性 = A具有B的特征 = A体现B的特征。原表达正确，无须换用 featuring，characterized by 为错误。

二、All three regions had seen an increase in the reporting of face coverings being worn over the past two months.

being worn 为现在分词被动式，作 face coverings （口罩）的定语，表达被动关系，跟reporting 无关。句子运用无生命主语，指“三个地区内戴口罩的报告（报道）增加”。
