Throughout our history, immigrants have contributed to American society and help build the American dream 请问:可以将help改成helping吗？答案改成helped将其看作与contributed并列。那可以理解成and后面省略了have contributed to，helping…做它的宾语吗？

你说的 have contributed to American society and helping build the American dream，视为helping 前省略了to，这在意思和结构上都不对称。所以为错误。

1. 意思不对称。“为美国社会做了贡献”和“有助于帮助实现美国梦”。contribute to 接了两个不对称的宾语意思。而句子的意思实际为：为美国社会做出了贡献，并帮助实现了美国梦。

2. 结构不对称。如果按照网友的说法，把 help 改为 helping ，那么之前必须加介词to。
