Shy, reserved and proud, I would have died rather than have breathed a syllable of my view.

1) would rather... than...还是would...rather than...?

3) 麻烦老师讲解一下would rather... than...would...rather than...

4) breathe a syllable of my view

Shy, reserved and proud, I would have died rather than have breathed a syllable of my view.

breathe a syllable of my view
1. I would rather die than breathe...

(实际是在 than 后省略了 I would)
2. I would die rather than breathe...

He went to town rather than stayed at home. He rides to school rather than walks to school.)
3.  I would have died rather than have breathed...
