as if 引导的方式状语从句本质上就是一个比较分句。夸克直接把as if引导的从句不叫方式状语从句，而叫做比较状语从句。as if 中，as后省略了主句主语和操作词，if再引导条件从句修饰as从句的谓语。你查《韦氏词典》as if , 就会知道as if = as he/it would be/do if...。
例如下句：
He is as happy as he would be if he had won 1 million dollars. 他高兴得就好像赢了一百万美元似的。
省略划线部分，就得到：
He is as happy as if he had won 1 million dollars.
这个句子中as if从句是与主句的as呼应的。但正如as比较分句作方式状语时，as本身就隐含比较项，无需主句中出现as. 例如：
