语法分析（曹老师请进）

曹老师好，之前提过问题，因为我采纳过早，现在细思仍有困惑：

Facebook is under increasing pressure to explain how data collected on 50m users were exploited for political gain, following claims that data firm Cambridge Analytical used the leaked information to help Donald Trump win the US presidency.

有老师回答following claim是介词，我仔细想了下，我觉得存在疑问，我认为有2种说法。

（1）following claims 中following 是Facebook的非谓语动词，从句主语相同省略，相当于独立主格？翻译为：脸书紧接着发言：CA公司使用泄露的信息来帮助川普赢得选举。

（2）following claims中following是形容词，following claims做political gain的同位语。

我这样理解，是因为该文章有一句话。

Facebook banned the data analytics company on Friday,three years after it first discovered it had broken its rules. 里面的three years 就是对Friday的解释，我认为这2句是相同的用法。

（3）用法为介词+名词；对于在一个完整句子逗号后面，再添加介词+名词的用法，我不大见到，可以普及下吗，谢谢老师！

Mikee老师的解答是正确的。

following在此按介词分析是合理的。有的词典给出了following的介词词类，有的没有。

例如 The Free Dictionary：

following：

prep.

Subsequent to; after:

Following dinner, brandy was served in the study.

as a result of:

He was arrested following a tip-off.

之所以要把following分析为介词，是因为在有的句子中，following+宾语在句子中作状语，而following的逻辑主语并不是句子的主语，而是句子谓语表示的动作或状态。例如上句，following a tip-off的逻辑主语并不是句子的主语He，而是his being arrested这个动作。这种用法用现在分词不好解释，于是就按照介词解释了。

你的句子中，following=after 或者 as the result of. 例如：

as the result of claims that ... after claims that ...介词短语作原因状语或时间状语。

你的二种理解都是错误的。
