章振邦的新编高级语法书上510页,说
上句可用unless改写=...unless she had learnt it.
我的困惑是:
1)上句如果是虚拟语气,怎么可以用unless改写呢?
2)我认为上句只能是虚拟语气理解,能表示真实的条件句吗?如果可以,怎么理解这种语境呢?
unless 引导的肯定条件状语从句通常可以改为 if 引导的否定条件状语从句。如:
I want you to keep working unless I tell you to stop. (=... if I don't tell you to stop.) 如果我没说让你停,你就得继续工作。(摘自《薄冰英语惯用法词典》p.1245)
