句中的putting on是否应理解为“正要穿”，类似于be leaving? 改成wearing是不对的吧？
——这里的 putting on 是介词 to 的动名词，不是谓语动词，不是进行体 is putting on，这是其一。其二，put on 不是终止性动词，而是可以延续的动作。本句用 put on 而不用 wear ，强调“穿的动作”，当然用 wear 也没有问题。

还有，我是否可以根据《柯林斯》的Another policeman has been injured as fighting continued this morning. 来把原句中的 has 去掉？as的时态真的有点难。

——我认为该句有错，因为主句的时态跟时间状语从句的时态不一致，也应改为一般过去时。不是去掉 has，而是改为 was injured 或 got  injured。

Another policeman was/got injured as fighting continued this morning. 

又如：

More troops died as the fighting continued to rage throughout the afternoon.
随着整个下午战斗继续激烈，更多的士兵死亡。
But as the fighting continued, public opinion changed.
但随着战斗的继续，舆论发生了变化。
