walk ________________  (through/acorss) the desert 似乎across 用得多些，through也有看到。请问究竟如何使用？

【答】没有障碍的平面（大街；广场），一般用 across；有障碍的地方（森林，人群，草地）一般用 through。

关于 desert，在语料库中，用(through/acorss) the desert 都有。但在正规词典查到的只有两例，是 across the desert：

They drove 600 miles across the desert.
他们驱车600英里横穿沙漠。

2. 用opposite/ across(from)填空

        1) There is a book shop_______________ the street.    （across）

        2) There is a book shop ________________ the post office.（opposite/ across from）

       3)  The book shop is ___________________the street.（across）

       4)  The book shop  is________________ the post office..（opposite/ across from）

【重要提示】across 与动态动词连用多表示 “穿过”、“从这一边到另一边”。与静态动词连用多表示位置“在对面”。across 一般跟 the street,  the road 连用，不直接跟建筑物。不说 across the house。这时，应说 across from the house，实际是 across 后省略了 the street，the road。所以，可以说：

across from the house = across the street from the house = opposite the house

across the street/road

There's a bank right across the street.

街对面就有一家银行。
