rather than 用作并列连词，介词，从属连词的区别？

章振邦高级英语语法书上说，rather than 既是并列连词，也是介词，是否意味着：

1) He felt rather than saw (并列连词）

2) = He felt rather than seeing (介词）？

句1）可以改成成句2）吗？

3）Let's finish the job today, rather than leaving it till tomorrow. 介词

4）= Let's finish the job today, rather than leave it till tomorrow. 连词？

句3）可以改成成句4）吗？

5）Rather than go by air, I'd take the slowest train - rather than 是“从属连词”，

6）Rather than going by air, I'd take the slowest train - 把rather than 用作“介词”呢？

句5）可以改成成句6）吗？

1) He felt rather than saw the tree fall down.

2) He felt rather than seeing the tree fall down.

第二句显然没有第一句好，第二句的felt有点指向不明

3）Let's finish the job today, rather than leaving it till tomorrow.

4）Let's finish the job today rather than leave it till tomorrow.

4无须逗号，4比3好。4表示你的选择，表达选择一种行为时，rather than作为连词用

5）Rather than go by air, I'd take the slowest train

6）Rather than going by air, I'd take the slowest train

同理，5比6好

章振邦P480在并列连词这一章节里，把rather than的作为连词的几个实例作了些说明，并指出，根据以上用法，rather than又可看作是一种复杂从属连词。

但我的观点是：依然看作并列连词，不复杂化
