rapture 与 ecstasy 都指心醉神迷不能克制的状态。

1. rapture 的意思是“着迷，痴迷；狂喜”。作可数名词或不可数名词，有时以复数形式出现。原指神的力量使灵魂出窍，因而可见到常人见不到的东西。现在常指强烈的、极大的快乐，但未必像 ecstasy 那样到了失魂落魄的地步。例如：

A mystical rapture seized him. 一种神秘的狂喜令他陶醉。

In rapture the child listened to the talking doll. 那孩子着迷地听着会说话的玩具娃娃。

She was in raptures about her beautiful new house. 她为有自己漂亮的新屋欣喜不已。

2. ecstasy 作可数名词或不可数名词。意思是“神迷心醉；出神，恍惚；忘形”。原指宗教等引起的一种失神状态，即对于周围环境的感觉已经麻痹，思想完全集中于正在考虑的事情。现在常指狂喜失态或神魂颠倒。例如：

She went into ecstasies over that television programme. 她看那个电视节目看得心醉神迷。

Speechless with ecstasy the little girl gazed at the doll. 小女孩凝视着洋娃娃，高兴得说不出话来。

She loved him with an acute, painful ecstasy that made her dizzy and blinded her to all the world besides. 她热烈而痛苦地迷恋着他，恋得她神思恍惚，看不见其他的一切。
