Do you mind后面可以用whether引导从句吗

请问在 Do you mind if I...句型中，为什么不能把 if 换成 whether 呢？

在 Do you mind if I...句型中，不能把 if 换成 whether，因为这里的 if 引导的是条件状语从句，而不是宾语从句，这里的 if 意思是“如果”，而不是“是否”。该句式的基本意思是：如果我……你介意吗？如：

Do you mind if I smoke here? 我在这儿抽烟你介意吗?

Do you mind if I open the window? 我可以开窗吗?

Do you mind if I sound you out about these new proposals? 我可以听听你对这个新计划的看法吗？

类似地，Would you mind 后面也要用 if 来引导条件从句，而不能用 whether。如：

Would you mind if I smoked here? 我在这吸烟你介意吗？

Would you mind if I went home early today? 我今天早点回家可以吗？

Would you mind if I taped this conversation? 你介意我把这次谈话录下来吗？

Would you mind if I brought a friend to the party? 我可不可以带个朋友来参加聚会？

注：Would you mind 后面的条件状语从句通常用一般过去时。

在 Do you mind if I .......的句型中，不能把 if 换成 wether，因为这里的 if 意思不是“是否”，而是“如果”，也可以翻译成“要是”，或者不翻译。例如：

Do you mind if I put the television on? 我打开电视你不介意吧？

Do you mind if I come along too and see how you get on? 要是我也和你一起去，看看你能不能买到，你不介意吧？

如果 whether 后面有 or 的话，就只能用 whether，不能用 if。
