这是一个错句。删去because of.

You can only say that it’s because of some confused sense of values we have that makes us think it is better to sell houses as a salesman than it is to build them as a carpenter.

该句的错误，修改时应保留 because of，句子使用强调结构，显然是为了强调“原因”，没了 becuase of，句子结构虽然对了，但失去了“本义”。所以，这样修改更好：

You can only say that it’s because of some confused sense of values we have that we think it is better to sell houses as a salesman than it is to build them as a carpenter.

强调“原因”，去掉红色便知。
