物主代词与all,whole连用时的相互位置

The doctor helped the sick ______.

A. all his life B. his all life C. whole his life D. his whole life

答案是 D，请老师给讲讲A、B、C，还有就是这个题想考的是什么？是 all 与 whole 的区别还是，限定词与形容词的位置？his 是限定词，whole 是形容词，所以 D 对，那么既然限定词必须在形容词之前，为啥我们也见过 A 这样的句子呢？all 怎么能放 his 前呢？his是限定词，不是吗？谢谢老师！

① all one's life “（某人）一生、终生、一辈子”是惯用短语，常直接用作状语。如：

I've lived here all my life. 我一生都住在这里。《牛津高阶英汉双解词典》

He's been a keen supporter of the Labour Party all his life. 他一生都是工党的热情拥护者。《柯林斯高级英语双解学习词典》

② one's whole life 主要起名词作用，常用作主语、宾语、表语等。如：

His whole life is a fight against poverty and unemployment. 他的一生是与贫苦和失业斗争的一生。《现代汉英综合大词典》

He has been devoting his whole life to benefiting mankind. 他把自己的一生贡献给了造福人类的事业。《简明英汉词典》

His work is his whole life. 他的工作是他全部生活的寄托。《简明英汉词典》

③ one's whole life作状语时，通常要在前面加介词，但有时候也可以不用。如：

② whole 紧接名词。如附加 the，或加物主代词 my 等，或 that 时，表示“全部的；全体的；所有的”意思 = all。如：

the whole world, the whole city, the whole nation, the whole time, my whole time, his whole energy, work with one's whole heart, that whole afternoon

1. 首先从词序上看：all 通常放在冠词、指示代词、物主代词等之前，而 whole 应放在这些词之后，据此可排除 B 和 C。
2. 至于 A 和 D，我觉得都可以选。比如《朗文英语语法》就认为以下表达用法相同，可以互换：
all my business / my whole business 我的全部生意
all my life / my whole life 我的一生
all the time / the whole time 全部时间
▲但个人感觉，相比较而言，作主语或宾语时，多用one’s whole life，而作状语时，则多用 all one’s life（但这并不绝对）。如：
She spent her whole life in a convent. 她终生住在修道院。
Her whole life seemed to be ruled by fear. 她的整个生活似乎都被恐惧所抑制。
She lived in luxury all her life. 她一辈子过着豪华的生活。
She had the good fortune to be free from illness all her life. 她运气好，一生中从未得病。
如果从这个角度来看，你的这道题 A 应该比 D 更合适。
