这两个词都含有对事物的超越，对事物好坏大小的夸大之意。 

1) exaggeration 指人们由于感情的色彩，无法认清或估计所描绘的事物的本来面目。

例如: 

It's a story full of exaggeration. 

这是充分夸张的故事。

The statement that he could eat fifty eggs was definitely an exaggeration. 

他声称能吃50个鸡蛋绝对是一种夸张。 

2) overstatement 与前者有所不同，很少带有贬义，常指超越某个事物而没有其他的含义。

例如: 

It is the overstatement of your case. 

这过于强调自己的情况和理由。 

Your arguments are full of overstatement. 

你的论点充满了夸张。
