neglect, ignore, omit, disregard 和 overlook 

在意思上 这组词都含有对某事没有给予应有的注意的意思。 

1) neglect 指有意无意地对某事不予注意。

例如: 

I neglected to wind the watch. 

我忘了给手表上劲儿。

2) ignore 指故意忽视，或闭上眼睛不去看不想看到的东西。

例如: 

My driving was suspended for ignoring a red light. 

我因为闯红灯而被罚暂停驾驶。 

He who ignores history is doomed to repeat it. 

谁无视历史，谁就注定要重蹈覆辙。 

3) omit  指因疏忽、不注意或专注于某个细节而忽略了整体。

例如: 

Most foreign visitors omit to walk round the walls in their hurry. 

大多数外宾由于匆忙而忘记绕墙走了。

4) disregard 指自愿的，有时是有意的忽视。

例如: 

He disregarded my warnings and meet with an accident. 

他忽视了我的警告，结果发生了意外。 

We disregarded the gossip and rumors.

5) overlook 指由于匆忙或粗心而忽略，有时可能是故意的。

例如: 

In her hurry she overlooked a passage in the letter. 

她在匆忙中看漏了一段信
