In semiotic analysis the human and the object are accorded the same signifying potential: 在符号学的分析中，人与对象都被赋予相同的意指（signifying）潜力:

请教老师两个问题：

1，红字的potentially either怎么理解呢？

我自己理解的是：potentially 副词 “潜在地”，引申理解为“可能性”；either在这里做形容词使用，意为“（二者中）任一的”，引申为“非此即彼的”，再引申为“相同的”。所以我把potentially either翻译为“可能是相同的”。

2，how前面是不是应该有个连词“and”呢？
