there's something about sth. —— something about 表示说话人一种间接的感觉，留有余地。我们可以把 something about 去掉，剩下：there's (something about) sth.

我们比较这两句话：

there's something about the tangibility of paper that feels more comforting.

there's the tangibility of paper that feels more comforting.

这两句话意思基本一样。但前者表示纸张有舒适的触摸性这种感觉，比较含蓄、间接。后者表示纸张有舒适的触摸性这种品质，很直接。

就像两个人说话，一个人是农民工，一个是知识分子。

我再举个例子：

There is something about danger in the room. （表示房间里有危险的迹象或感觉）

There is danger in the room.（直接表示房间里存在危险）
