Many cities' streets have become crowded with cars. Driving through them is often a nightmare for drivers who often break the rules of the road to get to their d___1___ just a little bit sooner.

But what if the roads are filled with books instead of cars? Books of all kinds, from books about art to children's books to novels. What will the city and traffic look like then?

It would look a lot like the Toronto Street a__2__ artists filled it with 10,000 books.

This art activity, called "Literature(文学) vs. Traffic", has previously(先前)s__3___ down streets in Madrid, New York and Melbourne and serves as commentary(评论)on the crowded streets of the city. According to artists, the activity offers a break from the normal traffic jams. They want literature to take over the streets, offering for free to those who walk in a place free of traffic.

The books were d___4___ by the Salvation Army. It took 50 volunteers 12 days to collect the books, arranging and then illuminating(照亮) the pages with tiny lights, which created the f___5___of fireflies along a river.

Hagerman Street, is one of Toronto's busiest streets. Artists said, "In the end, the cars will again take their place. But for many of those who pass through it that night, their relationship with this environment improves."

The activity drew crowds throughout the night. Observers were encouraged to walk through the books and get up c___6___ again with the printed word.
