英语中有一类词，可以用作数字的修饰语，含有“仅仅，足足，整整”的意思。一般说来，表示在数字所表示的数目之上，可用full, good, solid, cool, odd 等，表示在数字所表示的数目以下，则用mere, bare, scant 等; 大致的数目则可以用estimated等。修饰词的位置有时在数字之前，有时在数字之后。

        试举例如下: 

It was a mere two years ago. 

那不过是两年前。 

The father died when the child was a bare two years old. 

孩子刚刚两岁，父亲就死了。 

It requires a full six months of hard work in some library. 

那需要在某图书馆拼命干六个月。 

It happened thirty odd years ago。 

那发生在30几年前。 

It allows him to sleep seven solid hours each night. 

那使他每晚可足足睡上七个小时。
