英语可以说make sb be…吗
要表示“使某人做某事”，我知道 make sb to do sth 是错的，应改成 make sb do sth。但如果动词是 be 呢？比如：
(1) make sb happy
(2) make sb be happy
(3) make sb to be happy
第(3)句肯定是错的，第(1)肯定是对的，但第(2)呢？对还是错？我之所提出这个问题，是因为我看到了这样一个句子：
Some students think that playing basketball well is attractive, and it can also make them be confident.
请问这个句子对吗？我是说句中的 be 用得对吗？谢谢老师解答！

上面句子中的 be 是多余的，因为英语中有“make + 宾语 + 形容词”句型，没有“make + 宾语 + be + 形容词”句型。

所提供的答案为C。命题者的思路可能是：当 make 用作使役动词时，若其后接不定式作宾语补足语，该不定式不能带 to。但是，问题动词 make 后接形容词作宾语补足语时，习惯上是不带 to be 的。比如《牛津高阶英汉双词典》第6版在 make 词条专门列出了“[VN-ADJ]”句型结构，其解释是：to cause sb / sth to be or become sth. 该词典所给出的例句如下：
The news made him very happy. 这个消息使他很高兴。
