There were no theatres, no cinemas, no coffee bars. It was dead as anything.  那时既无剧院，又无电影院，也无咖啡馆，死气沉沉。

It is very difficult to contract this virus. It's milder than we though. The fatality is gonna drop. 

So when you hear the context, it's not quite as scary.

感染这种病毒是非常困难的，它比我们想象的要温和，死亡率会下降。所以当你了解前后发生的事情的来龙去脉的时候，就没那么可怕了。

以上2句中的as用法一样吗？

第二句我想是省略了it's not quite as scary (as it was) - 就是省略了(as it was), 对吗？

但是第一句感觉没省略，或我不会分析。
