个人感觉，似乎有点像是非限定性关系分句的先行词，请各位老师解惑。

such as

一般词典的解释是：of the kind specified

(中文意思是“类同”而不是指“同一”）

They all had terrible internal injuries, such as had not been seen in Europe, ...

<= ... internal injuries, [which were] such as had not been seen in Europe,...>

= ... internal injuries, [which were those] of the kind that had not been seen in Europe,

或者更简单点，

= ... terrible internal injuries, like those that had not been seen in Europe,

RE:“似乎有点像是非限定性关系分句的先行词”

--- such显然不是关联词，所以我给你加上了[which were], 然后又删掉，表示这里的连接关系并非由such (as) 来担当。

这个such as局部的结构，跟这句话很有相通之处：

Cook was a strict but good captain, one who usually took care of the sailors on his ship.

one who = [who was] a captain who

such as=that或which可以引导定语从句，另外,such as=whath或whatever或those who等引导名词性从句，such as也常引出同位语。第一个例句中,such as=which，修饰injuries 引出非限制性定语从句。第二个例句中，仅仅引出了同位语those,而those后又用了一个省略引导词that或which的定语从句。
