It is utterly confusing to me that people do not recognize this, despite the fact pretty much anyone who has been a student can tell the difference between their best and worst teachers.

It is utterly confusing to me that people do not recognize this, despite the fact pretty much anyone who has been a student can tell the difference between their best and worst teachers.

1. 本句主要结构:It is confusing that... (It 是形式主语,that 从句是真正主语)

2. 在主语从句中:

(1)people do not recognize this:主句。

(2)despite the fact: 介词短语。

(3)pretty much anyone who has been a student can tell the difference between their best and worst teachers:是 the fact 的同位语从句。 

(4)在同位语从句中(之前省略了that):

(A)who has been a student 是 anyone 的定语从句。

(B)主要成分是:anyone can tell the difference between their best and worst teachers

3. 几个词语和结构:

(1)uttelry 等于 completely;  to me 对我而言(说明让我感到“迷惑不解”)

(2)pretty much:口语。等于alomst,经常用来修饰everyone, anyone, no one,all  等表示 “全部范围” 的不定代词。

(3)who has been a student:现在完成时,表示“曾经当过学生的人”,现在不一定是学生。


【翻译】人们没有认识到这一点,这让我感到非常困惑不解,尽管几乎任何一个学生都能分辨出他们最好的老师和最差的老师。
