if可以引导让步状语从句。例如：

    I'll do it, if it takes me all afternoon. 即使这件工作会用去我整个下午，我也要做。(if it takes me all afternoon 是让步状语从句，修饰主句中的 do)

    If he is little , he is strong. 他虽然小，但却很强壮。(If he is little 是让步状语从句，修饰主句中的 is )

    I'll do it, if I die in the attempt. 即使我尝试做这件事会丧命，我仍然要做。( if I die in the attempt 是让步状语从句，修饰主句中的 do )
