"tend to do" 结构中的 tend  是不及物动词，所以 tend 后面的动词不定式不是宾语，而是把 tend to do 一起看作一个成分。例如：

    在这个句子中，Too much smoking 是主语，tends to affect 是谓语动词，the voice 是谓语动词的宾语。如果再细分，Too 修饰 much ；Too much 是 smoking 的定语。

Students （主语）tend to find （谓语动词）that the consequences proves less impressive.（宾语）

宾语从句是个“主系表”结构：

the consequences （主语）proves （系动词）less impressive.（表语）
