并列连词问题

There are 300 people in the hall. Some are teachers, the others are doctors.

这句话中the others 前面要加并列连词吗？好像两个分句连接，是不是都得加并列连词？

如果大厅里的三百多个人除了教师就是医生，没有其他人，那么二个分句之间就需要用并列连词。

Some are teachers, and the others are doctors.

如果这三百个人只要是教师和医生，但还有少数其他人。则通常不用and. 表示说话人只提及主要的人员构成，还有次要的不必说出。此时others前没有定冠词。

Some are teachers, others are doctors. 这句话是没有任何问题的。

我估计定冠词是你自己加的，原句应该没有定冠词。

【答】这句话中的the others 前面不需要加并列连词。例如：

Some of these apples come from America, the others from Japan or Korea.这些苹果有些来自美国，其余的来自日本或韩国。（摘自《刘毅英语语法宝典》p.141）
