1）这里的check up on 是否合适？为什么不用check in on？

2) 下面的对话，可以看出up和in是不一样的？

1. 图片里是 check up on，意思是“私下调查”。为什么一定要“看望” 呢？

If you check up on someone, you obtain information about them, usually secretly. (私底下) 调查

2. Mike：Checking up on me? Harvey: Checking in on you.

这个对话类似修辞用法，就一字之差，是用来区别这两个习语的。前者是“调查”；后者是“看望”。可谓：差之毫厘，失之千里。
