如果主句的谓语动词是状态动词或者延续性动词，后面的时间状语从句可以用 before也可用 until 引导；如果主句的谓语动词是非延续性动词，后面的时间状语从句可以用 before 不能用 until 引导。例如：

    It'll be ages until / before we meet again. 还不知道要等多久我们才能再次见面。（摘自《牛津英语用法指南》第四版613.7）

    After the accident it took a long time before she had the courage to take a plane again. 

    此句中的 before 不能替换为until，因为 took 是非延续性动词。
