偶然看到一个例句：He was punished for what he had done.

记得for只是一个并列连词，不能引导原因状语从句，那这里的for what 结构应该怎么解释呢？what he had done是一个从句吗？

你忘了for还是个介词。介词后接名词、动名词或wh从句。

what在此为融合型关系代词，= the thing which. 引导的是名词性关系分词，相当于一个名词组。

He was punished for what he had done.

= He was punished for the thing which he had done.
