used as a direct object with little or no meaning 用作直接宾语,几乎不具或完全不具有任何含义


We hoofed it all the way back to camp. [=we walked all the way back to camp] 我们一路快走赶回营地。


We decided to rough it on vacation this year. [=to have our vacation somewhere where we would not have our normal comforts]今年我们决定去一个条件艰苦的地方度假。
