谢谢曾老师给出的例句，很佩服曾老师的知识面和对问题研究的深度！我原来一直以为表示“母语”要用 mother tongue, native language, native tongue 等，一般不会用 mother lanuage，但通过曾老师给出的例句可以看出，不仅可以用 mother lanuage来表示“母语”，而且“国际母语日”（International Mother Language Day）这样的专有名词都直接用了mother lanuage。学习了！谢谢！
native tongue 可以表示“母语”，例如：
His native tongue is French. 他的母语是法语。（《薄冰英语惯用法词典》p.467）
