这是一个习惯问题，没有为什么。

剑桥语法CGEL指出：当比较分句为than is + 形容词时，只有形容词为necessary, normal, possible, usual时，才可以省略is，其它形容词作表语，is不可省略。

另外，当比较分句为than is/was/had been+过去分词，即谓语为被动语态时，也只有部分动词可以省略助动词be, 只保留过去分词。这样的动词如下：

admit, anticipate, assume, expect, indicate, intend, plan, predict, realise, require, schedule, show, think.

其它动词的被动语态不可省略助动词be。
