3 promote后面接to do还是名词
The purpose of editing the News of the World was not to promote reader understanding.
这个promote reader understanding是怎么回事？promote后面不是应该是接to do或者名词吗？

其中reader是名词understanding的修饰语(名词修饰名词），表示这种understanding的属性，也可以用readers’ understanding的属格表达
如果把reader理解为promote的宾语是不成立的，因为reader是可数名词，可文中没有任何限定词或没有使用类指复数形式
