add的奇怪用法（该用被动式却用了主动式）

It’s said that the food which was given to the prisoner had added something harmful to the heart.
这个句子的意思好像是：据说，给这个犯从吃的食物加了一些对心脏有害的东西。
但我觉得句子中的 add 用得有些奇怪，或者说不妥，因为 add 的主语是 the food，而 food 自己怎么能够 add 呢？应该是食物被加进了一些东西吧，所以我觉得这里的 add 不应该用主动式，而应该用被动式，即应改成 had been added。我的理解有道理吗？谢谢专家老师解答！

请张老师不要介意，我们是在谈各自的不同见解，以给网友们提供参考。词典上 add one thing to another 的例句多如牛毛，但始终找不到 add 接双宾语的权威例证。至于网络上的一些东西只能作为参考，因为它们很多都是没有 “根基” 的。这个问题留给网友们自己去思考吧，祝张老师周末愉快！

我改的那种最好还是分析为全部倒装，这样问题就清晰多了。不用在纠结能否变被动了。这样似乎表达更好。

我认为，这个定语从句使用限制性和非限制性都可以，没有什么不妥。

It’s said that the food, to which something harmful to the heart had been added, was given to the prisoner.

It’s said that the food to which something harmful to the heart had been added was given to the prisoner.

但是，这种倒装却是第一次见：
It’s said that to the food which was given to the prisoner had been added something harmful to the heart.
